To say the Clarksville WhirlyBirdz had a good start Tuesday night in their game against the Hoptown Hoppers would be a bit of an understatement. Clarksville scored the first 13 runs of the game, scoring in each of the first five innings as the WhirlyBirdz took care of the Hoppers 13-4 at Christian County High School.

The Hoppers were very hospitable hosts for the WhirlyBirdz. Hoptown pitching gave up ten walks and hit four batters, while the defense was charged with two errors in the field.

Clarksville scored one in the first, two in the second, one in the third, and then blew the game open with five in the top of the fourth. The WhirlyBirdz added four more runs in the top of the fifth as the lead blew out to 13-0.

The Hoppers finally got on the board in the bottom of the fifth, scoring two runs to cut the lead to 13-2. Luis Vergara had an RBI double and Dom Oliverio drove in another run with a two-out single.

Hoptown added two more runs in the sixth with a ground out and a passed ball. But that would be the end of any rally for the night.

In addition to the charity from the Hoppers, Clarksville rapped out 13 hits in the game, outhitting Hoptown 13-8.

Luis Vergara finished the game 2-5 for the Hoppers with two doubles, an RBI, and a run scored. Chase Cummings was 2-4 with a double and a run scored.

Francisco Paradis was tagged with the loss, going 1 2/3 innings and giving up three runs, two of them earned, on three hits, striking out one and walking two.
