Emma Dowell is off to a good start as the 2023 high school golf season gets underway across the state.
The Trigg County sophomore shot a 96 Tuesday at the Marshall County Invitational played at the Calvert City Country Club. It was a 12-shot improvement over her score on the same course last year and one shot off her personal-best score which she looks to shatter this season.
Dowell finished tied for 29th place.
Two-time defending Miss Golf Trinity Beth of Marshall County shot a 2-under-par 70 to defeat her teammate Katie Roberts and Madisonville’s Karra Tucker by four shots.
