
With the start of the high school volleyball season just two weeks away, the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers were on the road in Lexington over the weekend. The Lady Tigers were among the lengthy list of teams taking part in the annual Bluegrass State Games.
Action for the Lady Tigers began Friday with the first of two days of pool play. Hopkinsville dropped a two-set decision to 3rd Region foe Ohio County 21-6 and 23-21. The Lady Tigers then lost to Campbell County 21-10 and 21-5.
Hopkinsville returned to action Saturday against Garrard County and fell 21-10 and 21-12. The Lady Tigers then squared off against 3rd Region power Apollo, dropping the match in two sets 21-9 and 21-10. Hoptown finished the day Saturday taking on new 8th District foe Heritage Christian. The Lady Warriors came out on top, winning the match 21-17 and 21-17.
The results of the two days of pool play placed the Lady Tigers in the Varsity Flight 9 bracket, where they faced a first-round matchup against South Laurel. Hoptown would lose the match to South Laurel, ending their stay in the 2023 Bluegrass State Games.
Hopkinsville finished their weekend at the Bluegrass State Games with a record of 0-6.
