Okay long-time University of Kentucky football fans, I need your help.

September 15th will be the 50th anniversary of Kentucky’s first football game ever played at Commonwealth Stadium when UK beat Virginia Tech 31-26 behind the play of quarterback Ernie Lewis. It was a game I attended during my senior year at UK after watching the Cats play previously at Still Field.

Corey Price, UK stat guru and part of the UK Radio Network football stats crew, has asked some media members to help pick the first, second and third team all-UK football teams of the Commonwealth Stadium era (since 1973).

I need to select one quarterback, two running backs, two receivers, one tight end, two guards, two tackles and one center. On defense, I need to select four linemen, three linebackers and four backs. On special teams, I need one kicker, one punter, one kickoff returner and one punt returner.

I need to fill those spots on the first, second and third teams along with a head coach for each team.

Price said not to “beat myself up” over the choices because this is meant to be “fun and a celebration of the last 50 years of Kentucky football.” However, I’ve seen a lot of special players play in that time and don’t want to overlook anyone, so any and all help will be appreciated — and I certainly want my ballot to be more thorough than the one vaughtsviews.com contributor Tina Cox will submit.
