The countdown to the start of the regular season is now underway for the Christian County Colonels after they finished the football preseason Friday evening. The Colonels traveled to Fort Campbell to take part in the Border Wars Jamboree at Fryar Stadium.

The Colonels played two, two-quarter contests during the evening.

Christian County opened the night taking on Clarksville Northwest. The game between the Colonels and the Vikings turned into a shootout with Christian County scoring twice over the final three minutes to claim a 41-28 win.

A big game for Jordan Miles, who rushed for two touchdowns and passed for three more. Miles scored on a 42-yard run the first play the Colonels ran from scrimmage. He later ripped off an 80-yard touchdown run. He connected twice with JaSean Riley, once for 24 yards and once for 42 yards. Miles also hooked up with tight end Jerry Foster for an 8-yard score.

Christian County’s other touchdown came on the final play of the game when Prince Northington scored on a long interception return.

In their second contest of the night, the Colonels scored on a late drive to edge out Kenwood 14-13.

Christian County fell behind early in the game when Kenwood scored less than three minutes in to take a 7-0 lead. The Colonels evened the score when Jordan Miles hit JaSean Riley for their third touchdown connection of the night to make it 7-7 with 6:49 left in the half.

Kenwood scored on a long TD pass with 3:41 left in the first quarter to take the lead back at 13-7, but they failed on the extra point and that would prove to be costly.

The score stayed that way until early in the second quarter when the Colonels drove down the field and scored on another touchdown pass from Miles to Riley to go up 14-13 with 10:40 left in the final quarter. The Colonels were able to convert a 4th and 37 on the drive.

Christian County will now open the season next Friday night in Bowling Green when they take on Franklin-Simpson at Warren East in the J. Allen Builders Bowl. Kickoff is set for 6pm.
