With the season set to officially open Monday, the Todd County Central Lady Rebels volleyball team got in some last-minute preseason action on the volleyball court Saturday. The Lady Rebels traveled to McCracken County for a trio of scrimmages against three perennial regional contenders.

The Lady Rebels were matched up against 2nd Region power Henderson County, 1st Region contender McCracken County, and Apollo, one of the 3rd Region’s usual top teams. The three are among the larger schools in the western half of the state.

Todd Central began their day with a match against Henderson County, who was tied for the top spot in the preseason 2nd Region rankings. The Lady Colonels came out on top in the match 25-17 and 25-15.

Up next was the preseason #1 team in the 1st Region, the Lady Mustangs of McCracken County. The Lady Mustangs would come out on top in the match, winning 25-11 and 25-14.

The Lady Rebels wrapped up their trip to the west side of Paducah with a match against the E-Gals from Apollo. Apollo enters the season as the #2 ranked team in the 3rd Region, according to the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association. Apollo rolled through the first set but had to fight off a big effort from the Lady Rebels in the second to take a 25-11, 28-26 match win.

Todd County Central will open the volleyball season Tuesday on the road for a 13th District match against Franklin-Simpson.
