A tough first half turned out to be the difference for the Todd County Central Rebels Saturday night. Henderson County scored three first-half goals and made them stand up on the way to a 3-0 win in Henderson.

The match was the fourth straight on the road for the Rebels, who have not played at home since the season opener on August 7.

The Colonels got on the board in the first minute of the match to take a 1-0 lead. Henderson found the net again at the 20-minute mark to extend the lead out to 2-0. The Colonels added a goal in the final two minutes of the half to take a 3-0 lead into the break.

Todd County Central came out and controlled the pace of play in the second half, but could not find a way to get the ball in the net. Meanwhile, the Rebel defense put the clamps on the Henderson County attack and shut out the Colonels in the second half.

The Rebels had their chances to be right in the thick of the match. Coach Mike Smith noted that Todd Central had six corner kicks and four close free kicks but could not manage to find the net.

Smith added that while not happy with the loss, he did find positives in the way the Rebels played in the second half and believes his team can build on the performance.

Goalie Ricardo Garcia-Spears finished the night with six saves in goal for the Rebels.

The Rebels drop to 2-3 on the season and return to action Tuesday when they finally return home to take on Caldwell County.
