The Todd County Central Lady Rebels’ hopes of winning back-to-back 4th Region All A volleyball championships were dashed Saturday afternoon. The Lady Rebels were upended by regional host Metcalfe County in their second match of the day, preventing them from making the return trip to Richmond.

Todd Central opened the tournament Saturday with a match against 13th District foe Russellville. This one was all Lady Rebels as they won in two straight sets 25-8 and 25-3.

Allyssa Wofford had three kills, six aces, and two assists to lead the Lady Rebels. Chloe Willis finished with two kills, six aces, and two assists. Shelby Holderman had three aces, three assists, and a kill.

That opening-round win moved the Lady Rebels on to face Metcalfe County. The two teams hooked up in a tight contest that came down to the wire in both sets, but it would be the Lady Hornets who came out on top.

Metcalfe County won a tough first set 25-23. The second set was an even tougher battle, but it was the Lady Hornets finding a way to get the win 28-26 and close out the two-set sweep of the match.

Chloe Willis had a big match for the Lady Rebels with 18 assists. Aubri Penick led the way at the net with seven kills. Allyssa Wofford added six kills. Lynnlee Jones finished with three kills and two blocks.

Todd Central’s Lynnlee Jones and Aubrey Penick were named to the All-Region Tournament Team.

With the loss, Todd County Central drops to 2-1 on the season. They are set to host Heritage Christian Monday night.
