
Trigg County’s unbeaten streak and run to win its first Class 2A championship ended Thursday with a 5-1 loss to Calloway County at the Jim Nix Soccer Complex.
The title was Calloway’s third straight in the 2A sectionals and the second straight year they beat the Lady Wildcats.
Josey McManus and Raylee McClure each scored two goals, and Karlyn Provine added one.
Calloway scored twice in the game’s first 12 minutes and never trailed.
Down 3-0 at halftime, Trigg County got on the scoreboard when Braylyn Harper scored her first goal of the season four minutes into the second half.
The Lady Wildcats, who came into the contest averaging eight goals a game, managed just five shots against the Lady Laker defense.
Calloway County improved to 5-2. Their losses came to University Heights Academy and Marshall County.
Trigg County dropped to 6-1. They have a district game at Crittenden County Thursday before playing in the Lady Colonel Soccer Showcase in Hopkinsville next weekend.
