The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers finished out their day at the Lady Colonel Showcase Saturday with their second win of the day and their third shutout of the season.
Three different Lady Tigers scored and DeAijha Tullis kept things clean in the net as Hopkinsville upended the Todd County Central Lady Rebels 3-0.
The contest was a defensive battle with neither team finding the net until the final two minutes of the first half when Kaydon Coats scored on a breakaway for her 12th goal of the season. It came on Hopkinsville’s first shot of the match.
For Coats and teammate Rebecca Wood, it was a Saturday of double duty as both represented Hopkinsville’s cross country team at the Calloway County Invitational earlier in the day.
Five minutes into the second half, Kaylyn Lynch scored off a pass from McKenzie Hyams for a 2-0 advantage.
Kate Cansler finished the scoring with a boot from 30 yards out with 28 minutes showing on the clock.
For Hopkinsville, they improved to 5-4-2 with a Saturday sweep at the showcase and remained unbeaten all-time against Todd County Central. Earlier in the day, the Lady Tigers beat Kirkwood 4-1.
Todd County Central fell to 3-3-1 with the setback. They have allowed three goals or less in all seven matches this year.
The Lady Rebels will host Franklin-Simpson on Tuesday, while Hopkinsville will host McLean County on Tuesday.
