There is one thing that is known for sure about the boys’ 5th District soccer tournament. That one item is that both teams are headed to the 2nd Region tournament next week.

With only two teams in the district and both the winner and runner-up qualifying for the regional tournament, it does take a little of the pressure off the teams as they take to the pitch Tuesday night in Eddyville.

However, there still is a district championship on the line.

If the two regular season matchups are any indication, the championship match should be a dandy.

Lyon County won both of the regular season meetings, but neither one came easy.

The Lyons picked up a 4-3 double-overtime win in the first meeting at Trigg County. The Lyons then took the second, also by one goal, at 3-2 at Lee S. Jones Park.

The championship match is slated to start at 5:30pm Tuesday at Lee S. Jones Park.
