The Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons are looking to make it six straight district championships as the girls’ 7th District soccer tournament gets underway. The tournament is being played at Hopkins County Central High School in Mortons Gap.

The tourney gets underway Tuesday evening at 5:30 as second-seeded Hopkins County Central takes on third-seeded Caldwell County. The Lady Storm won the regular season contest between the two, taking a 2-0 decision back on September 11. However, the Lady Tigers finished the season strong, winning five of their final six matches, while the Lady Storm won two of their final six.

The winner Tuesday advances to Thursday night’s title match at 5:30 against top-seeded Madisonville-North Hopkins. The Lady Maroons have struggled a bit down the stretch, albeit against a tough schedule, going 1-4-1 over the final six regular season matches.

Both the winner and the runner-up will advance to next week’s 2nd Region tournament.
