
The defending 13th District champion Todd County Central Lady Rebels punched their ticket to a third-straight district final with a 4-2 rubber-match win over Franklin-Simpson on Monday at Logan County High School.
The teams split a pair of regular-season matchups, with the Lady Rebels winning 4-3 in a penalty kick shootout and the Lady Wildcats answering with a 1-0 overtime victory.
Melanie Chamberlaine took her season goal tally to 19 with a pair on Monday, including a strike inside the first three minutes to give Todd Central the lead.
Her second came eight minutes later, and Haylee Chamberlaine added the third off a pass from Jaidyn Holland with just under 20 minutes left to play. Holland added her first goal of the season off an assist by Melanie Chamberlaine for the final margin.
Darby Delph recorded eight saves to earn the win for the Lady Rebels. Todd Central outshot the Lady Wildcats 17-10.
Todd County Central advances to face the winner of Tuesday’s matchup between Russellville and Logan County. The Lady Rebels topped Russellville in a pair of penalty shootout wins during the regular season and outscored the Lady Cougars 4-3 to split the series.
Franklin-Simpson’s season ends with only its second loss in the last seven matches to finish at 8-9.
