Anna Fort’s second and final state golf tournament ended Wednesday with a tie for 65th place at the Leachman Buick GMC Cadillac KHSAA State Championships.
The Hopkinsville senior shot an 88 Tuesday at the Bowling Green Country Club. After a slow start that saw her shoot 10-over-par on her first six holes. She settled down to par the next four holes and shot four strokes better on her final nine holes than her first.
In Wednesday’s second round, another slow start was the culprit that saw her shoot a 93.
It was Fort’s second trip to the championship round of the state golf tournament. As a freshman, she finished tied for 116th with a round of 91, missing the cut under the old format.
Last year, the KHSAA added a state first round that followed the region tournament. Those who advanced to the championship round played two rounds with no cut.
