Heritage Christian Clinches Third Seed with Sweep of Hopkinsville

In their first year in the 8th District tournament, the Heritage Christian Academy Lady Warriors will enter play as the third seed. HCA locked up the #3 spot with a home-court straight-set win over the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers Thursday night.

With the win Heritage finishes district play at 4-4, sweeping their matches against Hopkinsville and Fort Campbell. Hopkinsville will finish as the 4th seed and will be in the play-in game against Fort Campbell, with the winner to face top-seeded University Heights. Heritage will square off against second-seeded Christian County in a district semifinal.

Thursday night, the Lady Warriors won the first two sets by identical 25-18 scores. HCA then powered their way through the third set 25-8 to complete the sweep.

Katie Cansler led the effort for the Lady Warriors with 9 kills. Bralee Fowler added seven, while Hadlee Hayes finished with six.

Makenzie McCarty had 11 assists and Hadlee Hays added 10.

For the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers, Kyleigh Weber and Brooke Stewart led the way with four digs each

Heritage Christian improves to 12-18 on the year, while Hopkinsville falls to 7-20.
