The Henderson County Lady Colonels will get another shot at the University Heights Academy Lady Blazers, this time with the highest stakes of the season. The Lady Colonels moved on to the 2nd Region volleyball semifinals with a straight-set win over Hopkins County Central Monday night at Caldwell County High School in the second quarterfinal match.
The win sets up the third meeting between Henderson and UHA during the 2023 volleyball season.
Monday night’s second match of the 2nd Region tournament was a bit of a battle for the Lady Colonels, still, Henderson had enough firepower to pick up their second win over the Lady Storm for the year.
Henderson County came out and took the opening set 25-18. Central battled in the second set, but ultimately fell just a bit short, dropping a 25-21 decision to the Lady Colonels. Henderson was then able to close out the match by taking the third set 25-18.
Kylee Lyons finished with seven kills and nine assists for Henderson. Ava Stott added six kills and two aces. Grace Galbraith had a big night with 13 assists, four aces, and two kills.
With the win, Henderson County improves to 12-23, while Hopkins Central ends its season at 9-17.
Henderson County moves on to Wednesday night’s semifinals where they will face University Heights for the third time in 2023. UHA won in straight sets in Henderson back on August 17. The Lady Blazers won again in straight sets on September 23 at the wRECk at The Plex.
The first semifinal match is set for 5:30 pm Wednesday at Caldwell County High School.
