Outstanding not just on the field, but especially off the field, that is the true definition of our ‘Triple A’ athletes. Heritage Christian Academy’s Bradley Boyd truly meets those specifications and then some and that is why he is our latest Chick-fil-A ‘Triple A’ student-athlete.
On the field, Bradley stays quite busy at HCA. He is a three-sport athlete, representing the Warriors in soccer, basketball, and baseball, and has lettered in all three sports. So, his schedule stays pretty loaded up as it is. But there is far more to this young man than just what happens on the field, or court, of competition.
First of all, Bradley is knocking it out of the park in terms of academics. He currently has an overall GPA of 3.96. And that GPA comes in some pretty stiff courses like Honors English, AP Language, AP US History, Honors Algebra 2, Honors Pre-Calculus, and Honors Geometry. Plus, he is taking college courses at Hopkinsville Community College.
Bradley is also quite active in the school community at HCA. He is a member of the National Beta Club where he is an officer. Beta is the largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization in America, which for more than 80 years, has prepared today’s students to be tomorrow’s leaders. Beta’s goal is to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service, and leadership among elementary and secondary school students.
With his academic accomplishments, Bradley is a member of the National Honor Society. The National Honor Society is an organization for high schoolers that promotes leadership, service, character, and scholarship. High school students in grades 9-12 with a minimum GPA of 3.0 are eligible to apply for membership into the National Honor Society. To be admitted, students must show academic commitment, leadership experience, and good character.
To top if off, he is also a member of the Spanish National Honor Society. This is an honor society for high school students enrolled in Spanish and/or Portuguese, sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. The SHH was formally organized as the Spanish National Honor Society in 1953. To be inducted as a member of the Spanish National Honor Society a student must have a minimum cumulative average of 3.0, As and Bs in Spanish classes and be enrolled in a Spanish class at or above Spanish 4. One must remain enrolled in a Spanish class senior year in order to remain a member of the Honor Society.
His academic honors include two-time Presidential Academic Award and Academic honor roll.
Bradley is also greatly involved in helping others. He has volunteered for Living Hope Children’s Church and tornado relief efforts.
He has been involved in mission work. Over the past few years, Bradley has been on mission trips to Oklahoma and Utah. This past summer he served on a mission trip to help with 2 children’s camps in Utah, one with younger kids, and then one with teenagers.
As for his future, Bradley has already been accepted into some colleges and offered academic scholarships, but has not made a final decision on where he will attend. He would like to play baseball on the collegiate level.
For a career, Bradley has interests in physical therapy, dentistry, or engineering, but has not firmed up his career choice at this point.
That is a busy life for a young man and a quality of that life that makes Bradley Boyd the latest Chick-fil-A ‘Triple A.’
