
Four Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons got on the scoresheet on Saturday to lead the 2nd Region to a 6-3 victory over its 3rd Region counterparts in the inaugural boys’ soccer All-Star Match at Apollo High School in Owensboro.
Goals from Maverick Peyton and Eli Redpath gave the 2nd Region squad an early lead, and the advantage was 2-1 at the halftime break after Muhlenberg County’s Hayden Ashby pulled a goal back.
Owensboro Catholic’s Brody Martin tied the match in the opening minute of the second half before goals from 2nd Region captain Sam Dodds and Offensive Player of the Year Logan Terry made it 4-2 with just over 26 minutes left.
Daviess County’s Cameron Bell scored to pull the 3rd to within a goal with 20 minutes to play, but Terry added his second in the 75th minute and Redpath rounded the keeper with just over a minute left to complete his brace for the final margin.
