An exceptional athlete, doing well in two sports, involved in helping others, handling her class work, and looking to care for the youngest among us, all of those make Todd County Central’s Ava Scott a great Chick-fil-A ‘Triple A.’
Ava is not just a success on the field of competition. She has it together in the classroom and is moving towards her goals for her future, taking dual-credit classes so that she has a nice head start once high school graduation day arrives.
She is a two-sport standout for the Lady Rebels. In the fall, you will find her on the field for the Lady Rebel soccer team. This season, she was second on the team in goals scored and was among the team’s leaders during the historic season, which saw the Lady Rebels pick up their first-ever win in the 4th Region tournament, advancing them on to the regional semifinals.
Ava is also a standout on the track and figures to be a big part of the success of the program this year come the spring.
In addition to staying busy with athletic competition at Todd County Central, she is also involved in helping other Rebel athletes when she is not competing. She assists the Todd County football team on the sidelines each Friday night during the season, both home and away, which involves a commitment of time and effort, especially considering her leadership position on the Lady Rebel soccer team, which also plays in the fall.
Ava is involved with Beta at Todd County Central High School. Beta is the largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization in America, which for more than 80 years, has prepared today’s students to be tomorrow’s leaders. Beta’s goal is to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service, and leadership among elementary and secondary school students.
Beta involves a commitment on the part of its members to providing service in the community, so a portion of Ava’s time is dedicated to those service opportunities to the community around her.
As for future plans, Ava would like to be involved in taking care of the youngest among us. She says she would like to be a neonatal nurse in the future. A neonatal nurse specializes in the care of preemies and newborns facing specific challenges and older infants with chronic complications due to premature birth. This field can include care of patients up to two years old. Neonatal nurses care for infants with various medical and surgical conditions. They usually work in the neonatal intensive care unit within a hospital but can work in other healthcare settings as well.
It takes a special person to desire to get into this field and one with a unique level of caring and compassion.
Her faith is also a big part of her life. Ava is involved at New Life Worship Center in Elkton.
All of this makes for a very full, and active, life for a high school student, and doing it well is what makes Ava Scott another ‘Triple A.’
