Former Kentucky basketball player Cameron Mills now works with the UK Sports Network and recently had the chance to do one-on-one interviews with each UK basketball player to give fans some insights into their personalities.

Mills said the player who surprised/impressed him the most was freshman Aaron Bradshaw, who remains out with a foot injury.

“He is just fun. He’s easy going, good hearted and goofy, and I mean that is the most complimentary way,” Mills, a key contributor to UK’s 1998 national championship team, said. “He was having fun with me. Some guys get nervous, especially freshmen, but he is full of confidence.”

Bradshaw said one thing that made a huge impression on Mills about Bradshaw’s perspective on basketball and how close this team apparently is.

“He said, ‘Can we be a close team when we lose?’ My eyes got big. We fans love talking about 40-0 and think the team should never lose,” Mills said. “He said we are going to lose a game and when we lose and adversity hits we will still be close.

“It sounded like I was talking to Mark Pope in 1995 when I played. He talked all the time about embracing adversity and whether you quit or double down harder. That’s one of the biggest things he brought to the 1996 (national championship) team and it carried over to 1997 and 1998. But to hear a true freshman say that was impressive and tells me he will be a team leader.”

  1. Looking forward to see him when he hits the floor. I believed this is the week he starts practicing with the team. Should be hearing a announcement from the NCAA any day now due the 45 day window is coming up this week. on about big Z

    1. I dogged Bradshaw preseason. I believe now that he isn’t Shaedon Sharpe and really does want to play. I’m glad I was wrong and can’t wait to watch him play.

    1. Half if not more of the fanbase hates Cal… I hate all the fanbases i belong to because they attack their own teams nonstop. I am not into that kind of fan and kentucky is full of them unfortunately, the fans have gotten worse and worse over the years in all sports. American fans don’t understand what being a fan entails.

      1. I would say that your statement about 1/2 the fan base hating Cal is overblown. I would offer that it is a small vocal part of the fan base that doesn’t like Cal. We are not going to get a better coach or fit at UK.

  2. Hope to see him on the floor but Sharpe talked about how he couldn’t wait to be on floor the next season also and he never touched it hopefully not Sharpe number 2

  3. Aaron is a Great role model and leader. He gave my 12 year son great advice this past summer at camp and he’s soaking it in! Cant wait when he plays where gonna fly out and what him

  4. As someone who is dealing with a foot injury, I know firsthand what Bradshaw and Oney are going through. I’m 3 months in from my injury and still have surgery to go pending work comp approval. The Dr. tells me it will be 6 to 12 months before I’m as good as it’s going to be. So please have patience with these young men. The best thing as a fan we can do for them is prayer and encouragement. I bleed blue forever.
