A 22-0 run was a bit too much for the Fort Campbell Falcons to overcome Monday night. Apollo used hot outside shooting to ignite the big run over the end of the first quarter and the beginning of the second as the Eagles took a 53-36 scrimmage win at Fort Campbell Monday night.
Apollo was leading 9-8 midway through the opening quarter when things got out of hand for the Falcons as the Eagles caught fire from the outside. Apollo would end up making six threes in the first half of play.
The Eagles led 24-8 after the first quarter with the lead growing to 38-15 at the half.
Fort Campbell would end up outscoring Apollo 21-15 in the second half, but the deficit was just too much for the Falcons to finish out a big comeback.
Maurice Moore led the Falcons with 10 points. Eric Greene added 9. Tyrek Anthony finished with 6, while John Arnold had 5.
Apollo’s Luke Jarboe led all scorers in the game with 16 points. Freshman Eli Willliams also hit double-figures with 11.
Fort Campbell was 16 of 44 from the field, while Apollo was 18 of 43. The big difference was behind the 3-point line, where the Falcons were 0 of 6, while the Eagles knocked down 9 of 23.
