In a great display of skill and focus, the Christian County wrestling team delivered an impressive performance at the recent Christian County Scramble tournament. Coach Dee Leavell noted that his squad “showcased their prowess on the mat, securing victories and leaving an indelible mark on the competition.”
At 106 pounds, Elijah Cooper finished with a 4-1 record. Anthony Velasco finished the day with a flawless 4-0 at 113 pounds, while teammates Nathan Harrison and Kevondre Young made their mark with 3-1 records.
Holden Schneider stood tall at 126 pounds, achieving a perfect 3-0 record. The 132-pound category saw an outstanding performance by Dane Miller, who dominated the day with an undefeated 5-0 record. Notably, Haydon Merrick and Tay Martinez had big days at 138 and 144 pounds, respectively, securing victories for the Colonels.
In the 150-pound category, Ryan Hines and Joshua Cohoon had records of 3-1 and 4-0, respectively. The momentum for Christian County continued with Zach Eads at 157 pounds, who emerged from the day with an impeccable 5-0 record.
The team’s hard work was evident across various weight classes, with standout performances by Isaiah Davidson (190 pounds), Xavier Reid (285 pounds), and Xaveiyon Reid (285 pounds).
Coach Leavell added that “despite the challenges, the Christian County wrestling team showed resilience and unity, embodying the spirit of sportsmanship and commitment to greatness.”
