
Trigg County Lady Wildcat coach Greg Stephens knows this season is about moving forward with a roster comprised of all but three underclassmen.
Monday was about baby steps as the Lady Wildcats defeated Heritage Christian Academy 53-14 at Wildcat Gym.
Trigg County won the key areas on the stat sheet as they led wire to wire in getting its first win in two outings this season.
Nine players scored for Trigg County with 12 points coming from the bench of mostly eighth graders.
Trigg County used a 24-3 first half run to lead 26-6 by halftime.
Heritage Christian Academy also finds itself with a roster of underclassmen as it works to build its program in its first full season of KHSAA competition.
The Lady Warriors relied on a perimeter game, with three of their four field goals coming behind the arc.

Kate St. Martin scored all 14 of HCA’s points on four field goals and three free throws.
Trigg County shot 37% from the field and held a 33-26 advantage on the glass. The Lady Wildcats also turned 34 HCA turnovers into 38 points.
Evonna McGee led Trigg County with 19 points on 7 of 9 shooting. Alivia Norwood added nine points and four rebounds, and Veyda Grinols came off the bench to score six points and grab three rebounds.
Heritage Christian Academy (0-2) will host Fort Campbell in an 8th District contest on Thursday.
Trigg County (1-1) will get the first shot at the Lady Falcons on Tuesday when they host Fort Campbell at Wildcat Gym.
