The Crittenden County Lady Rockets used a 24-2 run at the end of the first half and into the second to hand Trigg County a 56-31 loss on Friday in Marion.

The loss overshadowed Trigg’s sticktuitiveness in the first half that saw them trim a seven-point second quarter deficit to 20-19 with 1:12 left in the half.

However, the wheels came off Trigg’s wagon over the final 72 seconds as two turnovers and a missed shot led to seven straight Lady Rocket points to end the half.

Crittenden’s leading scorer Anna Boone was on the bench for the second quarter as Trigg County rallied. She was a factor when she returned to the court, scoring six of her 14 points in the third quarter.

Crittenden scored the first 16 points of the second half and built a 43-19 lead as Trigg missed its first 10 shots of the quarter and turned the ball over seven times.

Alivia Norwood’s buzzer-beater to end the quarter put a stop to the Lady Rocket run.

Evonna McGee knocked down a pair of fourth quarter 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 16 points – right at her season average – to lead the Lady Wildcats. Reese Bush added seven points and six rebounds.

Trigg had 25 turnovers that led to 21 Crittenden points. The Lady Rockets also controlled the glass with a 45-31 rebounding advantage that led to 15 second chance points.

In addition to Boone’s 14 points, Crittenden County got 15 points from Elliot Evans. Both guards had three steals. Bristyn Rushing had six points and pulled down 10 rebounds.

Crittenden County is 3-1 and 1-1 in the district after Friday’s win, which was its seventh straight over Trigg County.

The Lady Wildcats are 2-2 overall and 0-1 in the district as they prepare for a Tuesday road trip to Lyon County.
