The Todd County Central Lady Rebels used a big night from Alexis Taylor to end their two-game using skid Monday night. Taylor scored 26 points, including the 1,000th of her Todd County Central career as the Lady Rebels took a big first-half lead and then held off a Butler County rally to take a 54-49 road win.
The Lady Rebels were leading 9-6 after one quarter and then delivered a staggering blow to the Lady Bears in the form of a 22-point second quarter. Alexis Taylor scored 10 of the points for Todd County Central. While the offense was racking up points, the Lady Rebel defense was clamped down on the Butler County offense, holding the Lady Bears to just six points for the second consecutive quarter as they ran the lead out to 31-12 at the half.
However, Butler County was not in the mood to go away quite that easily. The third quarter was the Lady Bears’ turn to flex, holding the Lady Rebels to just five points as they cut the Todd County Central lead to 36-26 heading into the final quarter.
Butler County continued to cut into the lead in the final quarter, but the Lady Rebels were able to fend off the effort in the end, taking the five-point win. Todd County Central hit 7 of 10 at the free throw line to help secure the victory.
In addition to Taylor’s 26, Abby Williams had 16 points for the Lady Rebels. Jamya Kay finished with six points.
Butler County was paced by Taylor Leach with 15 points. Anna Skaggs also reached double-figures with 11.
Todd County Central (3-2) is back in action Tuesday when they host Jo Byrns in the first game of a boys-girls doubleheader.
