Chalk one up to the boys from Kentucky. The Lyon County Lyons, who have reached the quarterfinals of the Sweet 16 the past two seasons, flexed their muscles on the beach Wednesday afternoon taking down Lexington, a Class 5A semifinalist last season in South Carolina, 74-50 in the opening game of the Small-Town Signature Series in the City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers.

The Lyons hit the Wildcats with one of their patented fast starts and never looked back.

Lyon County hit the court ready to roll. The Lyons shot 57.1 in the opening quarter, jumping out to a 19-6 lead. The Lyons cooled off a little bit in the second quarter, but still managed to extend the lead to 37-19 at the half.

Lyon County came out of the break and delivered the final knockout blow by outscoring Lexington 15-6 in the third quarter as the lead ballooned out to 52-25.

The Lyons would lead by as many as 33 in the final quarter before settling in to take the 24 point win.

A big day for Travis Perry in the Sunshine State, as he finished with 30 points, including five made 3-pointers. Brady Shoulders added 18 points and 8 rebounds. Jack Reddick ended the game with a double-double, and almost hit for a triple-double, as he came up with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists.

Lexington was paced by Jaxton Prunty with 23 points. Kaleb Evans added 12.

Lyon County (7-1) will take on Buckhorn, out of Alabama, Friday afternoon in the Signature Series Championship game.
