
Caldwell County, fielding a girls’ wrestling team for the first time in 2023-24, finished in 11th place on Thursday out of 22 teams at the Fort Campbell Invitational on the campus of Austin Peay State University.
Senior T.J. Goodwin had the top finish of the day for the Lady Tigers, rallying for a third-place finish in the 107-pound class. Trailing Ohio County’s Lacynda Munoz 8-6 in the closing seconds of the match, Goodwin forced a tie and a sudden death period where she scored a takedown and the 10-8 win.
Eighth-grader Sophie Parrish won four matches and finished in fourth place in the 100-pound class, losing to Henderson County’s Sydney Chambers, the No. 4 wrestler in the state in the weight class.
Alyvia Barnwell finished in fifth place in the 120-pound class with four wins.
Caldwell County scored 54 points to finish one point behind 10th place Franklin County and 12 points ahead of 12th place Bardstown.
