
Hopkinsville’s Antonio Williams poured in 44 points on Wednesday at the City of Middletown Holiday Classic to lead the Tigers to a 35-point victory over Southern on the campus of Eastern High School.
Williams collected 14 rebounds to complete a double-double and help the Tigers improve to 6-5 with a matchup with Oldham County coming up on Thursday. Southern dropped its fifth straight to slip to 4-7 and will face Murray High next.
Williams scored 12 and DeReion Dudley added 11 to lead Hoptown to a 31-11 lead after the first quarter. Williams kept the hot hand with 15 of the Tigers’ 33 points in the second to build a 64-34 advantage at the halftime break.
Johnce Minor scored 11 of his team-high 25 in the third for Southern and Anthony Johnson added seven, but the Trojans couldn’t cut into the margin thanks to seven points for Hoptown’s DeAvery Ramey and six more for Williams.
Williams closed the show with 11 more points in the fourth, and Keontae Radford scored for of his 13 to finish the game. James Bradley also reached double figures for Hopkinsville with ten points and ten rebounds, and Dudley finished with 19 points and five boards.
Cameron Johnson scored 18 for Southern and Johnson finished with 14.
