Lady Lyons Advance to All A Regional Final with Big Win Over Fort Campbell

The Lyon County Lady Lyons are headed back to the girls’ 2nd Region All A championship game for the fourth time in last five seasons. The Lady Lyons advanced by rolling past Fort Campbell 94-15 in Thursday night’s second semifinal game at Caldwell County High School.

This was was over just about as quickly as it started. The Lady Lyons opened the game by scoring the first 21 points of the night. After a Lady Falcon basket by Rosella Rajj, the Lady Lyons scored the final five points of the quarter to lead 26-2 after one.

The Lady Falcons had trouble with ball security against the Lyon County defense, and many of the turnovers led to layups at the other end for Lyon County.

The Lady Lyons kept rolling as the second quarter got started. Lyon County scored the first 14 points of the quarter to run the lead out to 40-2 and bring the running clock into play with four minutes left in the first half. Lyon County would score the last nine points of the half and take a 51-5 lead at the break and from there it was just a matter of playing out the time.

Lyon County would lead 73-9 after three.

Piper Cotham led five Lady Lyons in double figures with 22 points. Trinity Taylor added 18. Gracen Wynn finished with 12, while Jenna Coursey added 11 and Lexi Holland chipped in with 10.

Taliyah Campbell hit two late threes to lead Fort Campbell with 6 points. Rosella Rajj had 4.

Fort Campbell drops to 1-8 with the loss. The Lady Falcons are set to go on the road to North Hardin Classical Saturday. Fort Campbell won the matchup between the two teams back in December.

Lyon County improves to 12-5 with the win and advances to Saturday’s championship game against Crittenden County. That game is scheduled for a 2pm tip at Caldwell County High School.
