Derrin Boyd was so hot Thursday night he may still have a fever when he wakes up Friday morning.
The former Caldwell County star pumped in a career-high 38 points to lead his Lipscomb Bisons to a 98-72 victory at Florida Gulf Coast.
Boyd was 14 of 19 from the field and made 8 of his 11 3-point attempts. He also buried two free throws in his big performance.
It’s the most points scored by Boyd since he poured in 43 for Caldwell County against University Heights Academy on Feb. 12, 2019.
Boyd continues to lead Lipscomb in scoring, now at 17.7 points a game.
The Bisons are 13-8 overall and 4-2 in the ASUN.
Lipscomb remains in Florida for a matchup at Stetson on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
