Lady Maroons Grab Control Early in Win at Caldwell

The Madisonville-North Hopkins girls ran out to a 19-5 lead after one quarter, and went on to post a 56-36 victory at Caldwell County in 7th District action Friday night.

The Lady Maroons ran their winning streak against the Lady Tigers to 14 straight games.

Caldwell’s last win in the series came in the 2017-18 season.

Madisonville, now 10-8 overall and 3-0 in district play, held a 34-17 lead at halftime. The Lady Maroons were up 43-24 through three quarters.

SaNya Carney scored 17 of her game-high 22 points in the first half to help Madisonville grab control of the contest early.

Destiny Whitsell added 11 points for the Lady Maroons while Riley Sword had nine points.

Caldwell, now 5-12 and 2-2, got eight points from Med Thomas. Tink Clark and Brylee Butts each scored seven points.

The Lady Tigers will be back in action on Saturday, hosting Webster County at 12:30 p.m. The Lady Trojans are 2-16 after beating Trigg County 54-25 on Friday.

Madisonville will host Dawson Springs for a girls and boys 7th District doubleheader on Tuesday.
