Receiver Ja’Mori Maclin admits that knowing quarterback Brock Vandagriff had transferred from Georgia to Kentucky did play a “little role” in his decision to also transfer from North Texas to Kentucky.

Maclin caught 57 passes for 1,004 yards and 11 touchdowns at North Texas last season and his playmaking ability was a welcome addition to the UK offense.

“Nothing crazy, though. Kentucky felt like home the moment I came and visited,” Maclin said about Vandagriff not being the only reason he came to UK.

Maclin does like what he’s seen of Vandagriff so far.

“He’s a funny guy to be around. He’s not always serious. We joke around a lot. We got a class together and we’ve built a good relationship playing Fortnite with each other outside of football and even in the weight room and just being around him,” the UK receiver said. “He’s a pretty cool guy.”

But what about on the field? How does he throw the football?

“Brock has an amazing arm. Best arm I’ve probably ever seen from a quarterback, and I’ve seen a lot of people, believe it or not,” receiver Raymond Cottrell, a Texas A&M transfer, said. “Brock, he’s a leader.

“He’s not a selfish guy at all. You can tell that he really loves his guys, especially his receivers. He really loves us.”

  1. The fact Coen has bolted to Tampa Bay puts the Cats in a bad situation. Coen turned out to be a Big Fat Liar. I hope TB doesn’t win a game.

  2. I’ll just wait and see, like usual. We heard a lot of the same stuff about this time last year and it was never shown on the field.

  3. Let.’s schedule a "good riddance" party for Coen instead of "good bye" one. I knew something wasn’t right last year when he always looked nervous and fidgety during all of his interviews. Brock and a few others may be little upset, but we will come back in better position when new hire made.

  4. Glad all this is over with Coen. It doesn’t sound to me like he really wanted to be at UK, it was just a very good paycheck. It is one thing to have a coach that other teams come after, but, to me, it is quite another to have a coach that throws his hat in the ring for every opening out there. I don’t know that Coen did that, but it sure does look that way.

  5. Vandagriff will be the starting Qb for Kentucky this year and depending on how he performs and who they get as offensive coordinator will be the factor in him spending 1 year in Lexington or 2 years in BBN. I think we have so many good receivers and tight ends and offensive lineman this year. I’m happy Coen is gone to me he was highly overrated. He ran the fewest plays last year then any other power 5 football team. Pro style offenses throw alot of passes to the tight ends since he came to Kentucky the first time we hardly ever get the tight end involved. We have 2 excellent Tight ends and great back ups. Running back is the only question mark and I think the Ohio state transfer and Wilcox will be a great 1 2 punch. Look at the Receivers we have. Cottrell 4 star Porter 4 star Key 4 star and proven playmaker Brown 4 star and proven playmaker jamori maclin is going to a stud that’s 5 good receivers I can’t remember another time we had 5 standout receivers we also have a couple of young receivers that have wheels. The line is going to be 13 deep so we will have 3rd string players that are capable for the first time ever. Our defense is a Top 15 defense. If we can hire a good offensive coordinator he doesn’t have to.be great we can be very good for the next couple years. We just have to keep recruiting. I remember when it was a prize to have a 4star offensive player and 4 star defensive player. Now we have a ton of 4star and a couple 5 star. People ask what Stoops has done that is what Stoops has done. We are always a couple touchdown away from 10 wins almost every year. Now we need to break into the 11 win threshold. And I think this is the year we can accomplish that. We should be preseason top 25 around 21st or 20th. We are gonna upset a couple big teams this year be ready.

  6. Also if we would blitz more on defense it would help alot. We have alot of seniors on this team we should be able to blitz alot more. What kills us every year is when we get up by 2 scores we play a drop zone and give the other team chunks of yards and all that does is swing the momentum to the other team. If stoops would keep his foot on the gas he would probably have 10 more wins at Kentucky.
