Caldwell County eighth grader Sophie Parrish is a regional wrestling champion after claiming the 100-pound weight class Saturday at the first-ever KHSAA Girls’ Region 1 Championship at the CAB gym.
Parrish had a pair of pins and an 11-8 decision in the semifinals while claiming the Lady Tigers’ only championship in the regional tourney.
YSE spoke with Parrish after the tournament.
