TayShaun Linton used football and good grades in high school to get his chance to earn a college education. The Trigg County senior now hopes to use that education to advance his career in athletics.

Linton signed his letter to play football at Thomas More University on Wednesday.

He finished his Wildcat career with 21 sacks, breaking Jason Wilson’s mark of 17 from 1986-89. Linton racked up 11.5 sacks in 2022, breaking the single-season record of 11 set by Kewanis Kennedy in 2004.

In 2023, Linton had 21 solo tackles, 12 for loss, and 6.5 sacks while playing on both sides of the football. For his career, Linton totaled 52 solo tackles, 30 for loss, and recovered three fumbles.

He earned All-Western Kentucky Conference honors each of his four years as a starter – one of the few Wildcats to accomplish that feat.

“He’s been an ambassador for our program and a kid you like to promote to the community,” Trigg County football coach Chris Ezell said. “It was easy to promote him to colleges because he’s such a high-character kid.”

Linton said he chose Thomas More because of the sports management course of study and the chance to intern with college and professional sports teams in the Cincinnati area.

Thomas More recently completed its application to become an NCAA Division II school. Starting this year, they are competing in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
