The Lyon County Lady Lyons will head into the postseason with the second most wins of any team in the 2nd Region. The Lady Lyons had four players score in double figures as they picked up a 71-57 win on Senior Night over the Carlisle County Lady Comets in Jason White Gym.

The only region team with more wins as the regular season comes to an end is Henderson County, who wrapped up regular season play with a record of 20-7.

The Lady Lyons trailed only once in the game. Kiera Whitaker made one of two free throws for Carlisle County to put the Lady Comets up 1-0 to open the night. That was the only time that Carlisle County would hold the lead.

The Lady Lyons, behind a big start from Jenna Coursey, ripped off a 12-3 run to take a 12-4 lead midway through the opening quarter. When the quarter ended, the Lady Lyon lead was at 20-12.

With Trinity Taylor and Piper Cotham providing a spark at the start of the second quarter, Lyon County started the second quarter with a 13-4 blitz that ran the lead out to 33-16. Carlisle County had a brief comeback effort, trimming the lead to 35-25. But that would be as close as the Lady Comets got before the half as Lyon County took a 40-27 lead at the half.

The Lyon County defensive pressure led to some ball-handling issues for Carlisle County early in the second half as the Lady Lyons pushed the lead out to 51-33. Piper Cotham had a big stretch of minutes for the Lady Lyons as they looked ready to blow the game open.

But Carlisle County fought back and got as close as nine before the quarter was over and had the lead down to 58-45 at the end of the third.

The Lady Comets got as close as nine again early in the final quarter, but they could get no closer coming down the stretch of the game, as Lyon County held on for the 14-point win.

Piper Cotham topped the scoring column for the Lady Lyons with 20 points. Trinity Taylor added 17 points, while Lexi Holland chipped in with 16.

The Lady Comets were led by Kiera Whitaker with 19 points. Macee Hogencamp finished with 15 points. 8th grader Ella Draper had 10 points.

Lyon County ends the regular season at 19-9. The Lady Lyons will open 5th District play Monday night when they take on Trigg County at Lyon County High School.
