No one in the 7th District could beat Madisonville-North Hopkins during the regular season.

The Lady Maroons now get to play the district tourney on their home floor as they look to claim the district championship.

Top-seeded Madisonville opens up district tourney play against No. 4 seed Dawson Springs at 6:00 Monday night.

The Lady Maroons (14-12 overall, 6-0 district) are huge favorites, owning a 44-game winning streak against the Lady Panthers (4-15, 0-6). The last matchup on Jan. 30 saw Madisonville pile up a 96-10 win.

Madisonville’s top challenge figures to come from No. 2 seed Hopkins County Central, although the Lady Maroons won the regular-season matchups by 18 and 14 points.

The Lady Storm (17-13, 4-2) will take on third-seeded Caldwell County (8-21, 2-4) in Monday’s 7:30 semifinal.

Hopkins Central beat the Lady Tigers twice during the season — by 10 points in Mortons Gap and by eight points in Princeton.

The Lady Storm, the defending district champion, has taken seven straight from Caldwell.

Hopkins Central also won the championship in 2021.

Madisonville claimed titles in 2019, 2020 and 2022.

Caldwell’s girls last won the district championship in 2018.

Dawson has never won a girls’ district championship. The Lady Panthers were last runners-up in 2018.

Monday’s winners advance to Thursday’s 6:00 district final. They also earn a berth in the 2nd Region tournament next week at Trigg County.
