If you were wondering how assistant coach Chin Coleman felt about Kentucky head coach John Calipari, you got the answer Monday.
Coleman was doing a press conference to preview Kentucky’s game at Mississippi State tonight when he credited Calipari with a lineup adjustment that produced huge results in Saturday’s 117-95 win over Alabama.
However, he gave more than just token credit to Calipari.
“The last game, the GOAT (greatest of all time) had a hunch,” Coleman said. “He had a hunch, he went with his gut to play (Zvonimir Ivisic) with four guys that he would kind of like to see Z play with. That hunch was part of the explosion that you saw. (Now), he’s got another hunch, so we’ll see what happens in the next game.”
“We have figured out all season how to play without this guy, these two guys (are out), he’s out,” Coleman said. “It’s kind of been like musical chairs type of thing for coach Cal to kind of figure this stuff out.
“He is the GOAT (greatest of all time). I did say that. Let’s don’t get that twisted. He is the GOAT. I wanted to make sure I made that clear.”
No worries Coach, it is crystal clear that you feel Calipari is the GOAT, especially after that Alabama win.
Coleman had no real update on Tre Mitchell’s injury status other than to say UK needed him — he’s missed 4 1/2 of the last five games.
“We need Tre. We need all our weapons trying to do what we want to do.”
