Hoptown Routs Caldwell 12-1 in Baseball Scrimmage

Hopkinsville built a 6-0 lead through two innings and went on to post a 12-1 win over Caldwell County in baseball scrimmage action on Tuesday.

J.J. Thompson was 3-for-4 at the plate for the orange-and-black Tigers while driving in three runs and scoring twice.

Meanwhile, four Hoptown hurlers combined to strike out 15 Caldwell hitters while limiting the blue-and-gold Tigers to just two base hits in the preseason tilt.

Thompson and Andrew Mayes each went two innings on the mound for Hopkinsville with five strikeouts each.

Hoptown added a run in the fourth, three in the fifth and two more in the sixth.
Caldwell’s lone tally came in the top of the seventh.

Both teams will open the regular season on Monday at home.

Hopkinsville will host Lyon County while Caldwell County entertains Livingston Central.
