
The Trigg County Lady Wildcats are finding the hits tough to come by in the first week of the softball season, suffering its second straight 3-0 loss on Tuesday.
The latest shutout came at the hands of Sadie Kirk and the Madisonville Lady Maroons in the second of 14 straight home games for the Lady Wildcats.
The Madisonville seventh grader struck out 12 Trigg batters didn’t walk anyone, and allowed just two singles. Trigg County managed just three hits in a 3-0 loss to McCracken County on Monday.
Madisonville got all of the runs they needed in a three-run first inning. A walk, single, and Trigg error loaded the bases. Addy Prow plated a run on a fielder’s choice before a steal of home by Sydney Skeen. Bryanna Harris followed with a sacrifice fly.
After that, Trigg County freshman pitcher Tember Oliver settled down and retired 13 of the next 14 batters she faced. She finished with seven strikeouts and five hits allowed in seven innings.
But it was Kirk who closed out the game for the Lady Maroons in dominant style, retiring the last 10 batters.

Skeen had two of Madisonville’s five hits – all singles.
Trigg’s hits came from Oliver and Brynlee Smock.
Madisonville improved to 8-0 all-time against Trigg County in fastpitch softball.
Trigg County will host Webster County on Thursday, while Madisonville (1-1) will welcome in Lyon County.
