After failing to find home plate in opening season losses to McCracken County and Madisonville, the Trigg County Lady Wildcats rapped out 10 hits in a 6-2 win over Webster County on Thursday.

Five players had two hits apiece as the Lady Wildcats scored all of their runs in the middle three innings.

Kady Fuller and Brynlee Smock each had run-scoring singles as part of a four-run third inning.

In the fourth, Veyda Grinols tripled to right and scored on a hit by Rylee Hendricks.

Maddie Smith capped Trigg’s scoring in the fifth inning with an RBI single that scored courtesy runner Jayden Visingardi.

Webster County’s two runs came in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Reagan Corbett and a run-scoring triple by seventh-grader Hailey Allen.

Grinols, Hendricks, Fuller, Smock, and Smith each had two hits for the Lady Wildcats, who won their second straight game against Webster County after snapping a nine-game losing streak to the Lady Trojans last year. Webster still leads the all-time series 15-4.

Tember Oliver struck out six and didn’t walk a batter in picking up the win in the circle. None of the runs she allowed were earned.

Trigg County is back in action on Friday at home against Union County.
