Toby Miles has stepped down as Christian County boys’ basketball coach after four seasons at the helm of the Colonel program.
In announcing the resignation Tuesday afternoon, Miles said it was one of the toughest decisions he has ever made.
“The time has come for me to be more involved in an administrative role at Christian County High School. This decision also allows for me to spend more time with my family,” Miles said. “I want to thank my players and coaches for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of their lives. Most importantly, a special thanks to my family for the sacrifices they have made and the support they have provided.”
Miles was previously a head coach at Hopkins County Central and in Tennessee before taking the Christian County job in 2020. After suffering through the school’s first-ever winless season — shortened to 11 games due to the pandemic — in 2020-21, the Colonels advanced to the region tournament in his final three seasons, winning a district title in 2023.
Miles’ four-year record at the school was 44-65.
“I am very thankful for the work and dedication that Coach Miles has shown to our basketball program,” CCHS Principal Kevin Crider said in a release. “Coach Miles is an outstanding individual who is going to continue to have a great impact on the students and staff in our district. I look forward to continuing to work with Coach Miles in his role as assistant principal.”
The school said they will begin a comprehensive search for a new head coach in the coming weeks.
