Three days made a big difference for the Caldwell County Lady Tigers.
After dropping a 4-3 decision in eight innings to Hopkins County Central Monday in Princeton,
Caldwell regrouped and claimed a 15-0 triumph over the Lady Storm Thursday in Mortons Gap.
An eight-run seventh inning helped the Lady Tigers put the finishing touches on the 7th District victory.
Alexis Wood scattered five base hits while shutting out Hopkins Central in the contest. Wood struck out five and walked three.
She also slammed a two-run home run off the top of the scoreboard in left field to account for the final two runs of the big seventh inning eruption. That came just three batters after Alicia Stanley had a two-run home run to center.
Stanley finished the day 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs while scoring three times.
Brylee Butts went 4-for-5 with a double and two runs batted in. Daelen Kizzee was 3-for-4 and drove in two.
Harper Holeman just missed a home run on a shot to the fence and finished 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs. Adley Lewis was 2-for-5 and drove in three while Maci Tyler went 2-for-5.
In total, Caldwell banged out 20 base hits in the contest.
The Lady Tigers scored once in the top of the first inning, then scored twice in the second and four times in the third to build a 7-0 lead before blowing the game open in the seventh inning.
Caldwell’s girls are now 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the district.
Hopkins Central is 3-4 and 1-1.
The Lady Tigers will play at home on Friday against Union County. The Bravettes are 2-3 and have dropped their last three games.
