Lily Eagleson held the visiting Hopkins County Central Lady Storm to only two hits over five shutout innings to send the Trigg County softball team to a 10-0 victory on Friday, the Lady Wildcats’ third-straight win ahead of matchups with Caldwell County and Muhlenberg County at the Prickly Peach Invitational on Saturday.

A five-run first got the Lady Wildcats pointed in the right direction, highlighted by RBI singles by Madilynn Smith and Livia Breckel, and a two-run double by Eagleson.

A night after delivering a walk-off extra-inning single to beat Logan County, Kiley Slone stayed hot to cap a three-run second inning with an RBI double.

Veyda Grinols’ two-run inside-the-park home run made it 10-0 in the bottom of the third, and Eagleson struck out four of the last six batters she faced to finish off the game.

Eagleson struck out six and issued a single walk to earn her first victory of the season.  Grinols finished 3/3 at the plate, and seven Lady Wildcats drove in at least one run.

Tinley Paxton took the loss for the Lady Storm, allowing 10 runs, five earned, on nine hits with a walk and a pair of strikeouts.

Hopkins Central slipped to 3-5 ahead of a trip to Trinity (Whitesville) on Saturday.
