
The Caldwell County Tiger baseball team continued its winning ways on Monday.
The Tigers won their seventh straight game and pushed their season mark to 8-1 with a 20-2 win over Dawson Springs in four innings.
Caldwell banged out 17 base hits at Riverside Park in Dawson while scoring 20 runs or more for the 10th time in school history. The Tigers had eight extra-base hits, with three doubles and five triples.
Caldwell (3-0 7th District) scored two runs in the first, then sandwiched five-run frames around an eight-run third.
Dawson (0-4, 0-1) scored both of its runs in the bottom of the third inning to extend the game after the Tigers took a 15-0 lead in the top half of the inning.
Westin King was 3-for-3 at the plate for the Tigers with a double and an RBI. Carter Whittington went 2-for-2 with a triple, three runs batted in and three runs scored.
Ari Wells was 2-for-3 with a triple and knocked in two runs. Cole Slone was 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and four RBIs.
Channing Puckett was 2-for-2 with a triple. Chase Lantrip doubled and Scott Cortner had a triple.
Three Tiger pitchers held the Panthers hitless on the day.
Wells got the win, going the first two innings and striking out six. Cameron McDaniels pitched one inning, walking four and giving up the two runs while striking out one. Drew Stevens threw one inning and struck out three.
Caldwell has won its last eight matchups with Dawson and 40 of the last 41 meetings.
The Tigers hold an 82-9 advantage all-time.
Caldwell will travel to Murray on Tuesday before hosting Dawson Springs on Thursday.
