
On a night when the teams combined to commit nine errors, the host Hopkins County Central Lady Storm turned ten hits into 12 runs to snap a four-game losing streak with a victory over Fort Campbell.
Trailing after a two-run error in the bottom of the first, Fort Campbell tied the game in the third before again falling behind after a Lady Storm runner tagged up on Tinley Paxton’s pop-out in the bottom of the inning.
Hopkins Central extended the lead on Reese Blanford’s two-run single in the fourth before the Lady Falcons got a run back on Tristin Caldwell’s RBI single.
With a three-run advantage to start their half of the sixth, the Lady Storm scored six runs with two outs to put the game away. Paxton drove in a pair with a triple, and Maggie Killough followed with a two-run home run that cleared the centerfield fence.
Emily Ballard tripled to bring in another run, and the last of four Fort Campbell errors allowed the final run to come in.
Paxton finished with two hits and three RBI, while also picking up the win in the circle. She allowed three runs, two earned, on seven hits with a pair of walks and seven strikeouts over seven frames.
Addison Blanchard also had two hits, Ballard hit safely twice and drove in a pair of runs, and Killough and Blanford each finished with a hit and an RBI.
Amare Moore took the loss for Fort Campbell, surrendering 11 runs, eight earned, on nine hits with a pair of walks and five strikeouts. Four Lady Falcons each had a hit, and Caldwell and Emma Kolmerten each drove in a run.
Hopkins Central improved to 4-7 ahead of a trip to Madisonville-North Hopkins on Thursday. The Lady Maroons took the season’s first matchup 13-0 on Monday.
Fort Campbell slipped to 2-4 and will travel to Hopkinsville on Thursday to face University Heights Academy.
