A Hopkinsville Lady Tiger basketball player got to officially celebrate signing to play on the collegiate level Wednesday afternoon. During a ceremony at Hopkinsville’s Tiger Gym, family and friends got the chance to honor senior Shiyah Forte, who will get the chance to continue her athletic and academic career at Southwestern Michigan College.
After a 26-year hiatus, Southwestern Michigan recently returned to playing women’s college basketball.
Forte finished her senior season as the 2nd Region ‘Player of the Year’, averaging 13.1 points and 11.5 rebounds per contest, and helped to lead the Lady Tigers to the 8th District championship and the semifinals of the girls’ 2nd Region tournament.
