Conner Wheeler allowed a single hit over six innings and a five-run first sent the Todd County Central Rebels on their way to a 9-2 victory over visiting Butler County on Friday.

The Rebels won for the second time in three games to improve to 4-5 ahead of a trip to Florida next week to play in the Fort Walton Beach Bash.

RBI singles by Zack Robinson, Hayden Strader, and Lane Thomas highlighted the Rebels’ first at-bat, and they added a run in the bottom of the second for a 6-0 advantage.

A pair of walks and two errors allowed Butler County to get on the scoreboard in the top of the third, and the Bears added a run on Duncan Tyree’s sacrifice fly in the fourth.

The Rebels tacked on two more runs in their half of the fourth, with Aaron Mansfield driving in a run with a single and Peyton Ortiz adding an RBI to extend the lead.

Strader collected his second hit and drove in another run in the sixth, followed by Mansfield’s second RBI of the night to round out the scoring.

Wheeler earned his second win on the mound, allowing two runs, one earned, on a hit with five walks and eight strikeouts.  Devin Schutt worked the final inning to close out the game.

Tyree took the loss for Butler County, surrendering four earned runs on three hits with a walk.  The Bears slipped to 3-3 with their second loss in a row.
