A fast start at the plate combined with a strong pitching performance from Jaiden Miles Monday carried the University Heights Academy Blazers to the sixth win in their last seven games. Miles pitched a seven-inning three-hitter as the Blazers took a 10-1 win over Anderson County in the Fort Walton Beach Bash.
Miles was outstanding on the mound, giving up just the one run on three hits. He struck out 11 and walked none in picking up the win.
The Blazers came out swinging in the top of the first. UHA used four hits to generate five runs putting Anderson County in a deep hole before they had even had a chance to look at a pitch. The big blow in the inning was a three-run shot to left off the bat of Miles.
A Jackson Flynn RBI single in the second extended the lead to 6-0. The Blazers extended the lead to 8-0 with a pair of runs in the top of the 4th.
Anderson County took advantage of a Blazer error to score a run in the bottom of the 6th but that would turn out to be the end of the offense for the Bearcats.
The Blazers sealed the deal with two runs in the top of the 7th inning. An error and a hit batter opened the door for the Blazers and they were more than happy to walk through.
Jaiden Miles went 3-5 with a home run, 4 RBIs, and a run scored. Jackson Flynn also had a big day at the plate, finishing 3-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Courtland Gibson ended up 2-5 with two RBIs and a run scored.
