Lyon County squeezed 24 runs out of 10 hits on Monday to brush aside Heritage Christian Academy and advance to a Tuesday matchup with Fort Campbell in the 2nd Region All-A semifinals.
The host Lyons won for the seventh-straight time to improve to 7-4 behind a one-hit shutout performance on the mound from Hudson Phillips. HCA slipped to 2-11 ahead of a trip to Caverna for a doubleheader on Saturday.
Phillips helped himself with a two-run double in the bottom of the first, and Peyton Williams got started on a big night with a triple to drive in two and put the Lyons up 6-0 early.
Eleven walks, a hit-by-pitch, and a pair of Warrior errors did the damage in the bottom of the second, along with an RBI triple for Williams, and a string of run-scoring singles. Korben Lucas, Turner Hurst, Williams, Drew Richie, Trace Walker, Tanner Anderson, and Troy Dorman each drove in a run to stretch the advantage to 24-0.
After a pop-out to start the top of the third, Phillips recorded two of his six strikeouts to pick up his first win of the season. He also drove in two runs along with Lucas, Williams finished 3/3 at the plate with four RBI, and five other Lyons drove in a run.
Collin Outland took the loss for the Warriors after giving up 11 runs, ten earned, on a pair of hits with nine walks and a strikeout.
