Caldwell’s Girls Drop 2 Games at Marshall County Slugfest

Caldwell County’s girls dropped two games against strong competition in the Marshall County Slugfest Friday night.

The Lady Tigers fell to McCracken County 15-4 before bowing to Marshall County 13-6 in games at Mike Miller Park in Draffenville.

Against McCracken, the Lady Mustangs scored five times in the first inning and four more in the second to quickly build a 9-0 lead.

Caldwell scored all of its runs in the bottom of the third, but could only get back within 10-5.

Savannah McDowell was 2-for-3 for McCracken with two home runs and six runs batted in. Addley Leidecker went 3-for-3 with a homer and four RBIs.

For Caldwell, Harper Holeman went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs. Alicia Stanley was 1-for-3 with a home run.

Holeman and Stanley went back-to-back in the third inning. Holeman’s blast was a grand slam.

Against Marshall, the Lady Tigers took a 6-5 lead to the bottom of the fifth inning.

But the Lady Marshals put up a six-spot in the bottom of the fifth to grab the upper hand and pick up the victory.

Alexis Wood led Caldwell in that game, going 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles. Stanley was 2-for-3 and knocked in three while Holeman also went 2-for-3.

Gracelyn Darnall was the winning pitcher for Marshall. She allowed six earned runs on nine base hits with two strikeouts and one walk.

Darnall was also 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs. Macy McLeod was 3-for-4 with a double and four runs batted in.

The Lady Tigers are now 10-7. They will play again on Monday when they visit Madisonville-North Hopkins for a 7th District matchup.
